This tool can help you answer the following questions:

  • How much space do I need to back up my data?

  • How much time will my backups take?

  • How much will my backup plan cost?

Just follow the steps below to get started.

Step 1 of 3: Type of environment

What kind of environment do you have?

PC
Server
Network

Step 2 of 3: Data Configuration

Number of PCs(*): How much data do you have per PC(*)?
View Advanced Options ▼
Hide Advanced Options ▲
How much of your existing data changes each week per PC? How much new data do you have each week per PC? Expected compression rate*:  : 1

*We recommend planning for a compression rate of 1:1 when choosing a backup drive, as compression rates vary depending on the type of data. By estimating 1:1 you ensure that you will never run out of space.

Step 3 of 3: Backup Strategy

A typical backup strategy would include:

  1. One differential (partial) backup 5 days per week
  2. One full backup per week
  3. Keep your last 4 full weekly backups
  4. Keep your last 3 full monthly backups
